We help children with hearing impairments in developing countries. Because I hear, I live. #BecauseIHearILive

SMILING CROCODILE is not only active in the Czech Republic, where we operate a unique center for children with severe multiple disabilities, but also abroad since 2009. In Asia and Africa, we help deaf children and children with multiple disabilities who live on the edge of poverty. We give them a chance for education, rehabilitation, and integration into society.

Thanks to your support, we have been able to help more than 3,000 children. And we are continuing!

What we are changing together:

We provide support for rehabilitation, education, and transportation to therapy.
We supply therapeutic aids to dozens of centers.
We support the integration of children into mainstream society.
We train professionals on how to work with children with disabilities.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: We spread awareness across continents – through the media, documentaries, and music.
Because I hear, I live. #BecauseIHearILive is our international awareness and integration campaign, which we have been running since 2016.

Our campaign footprint around the world:

More than 30 missions – India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Russia, Kazakhstan

#BECAUSEIHEARILIVE

In addition to helping individual children, families, and centers in various parts of the world, we also have an extensive international awareness campaign called #BecauseIhearIlive, which aims to raise awareness about the living conditions of deaf children in the regions where Smiling Crocodile operates.

Everyone has the right to belong to our society and deserves the aids, therapy, and education they need. Above all, they have the right to a beautiful life. The campaign also includes an international anthem for the deaf, composed by singer and ambassador Milan Peroutka with his brother Jan Peroutka, with lyrics by Smiling Crocodile director Dagmar Herrmannová.

The song of the same name was recorded in both audio and video form, in the form of clips in 10 languages and in 12 countries around the world. The song has already been featured in many media outlets around the world, and its message is spreading and will continue to spread. Everything was faithfully documented by cameraman and documentary filmmaker Aleš Vašíček.

How to donate

1. Donate online via Darujme.cz

The fastest way to support us is via a verified profile on the Darujme.cz website.
All it takes is a few clicks – select the amount, one-time or recurring, and make a secure online payment. After your donation, you will receive a confirmation email.

2. Customized donation agreement

Would you like to support us with a larger amount, long-term, or as a company?
Contact us at info info@smilingcrocodile.org – we will be happy to prepare a donation agreement according to your needs. This can be a financial donation, material support, professional services, or the involvement of your employees.

Automatic tax confirmation

At the end of the calendar year, we will always send you a confirmation of the donation received, which you can use in your tax return.

Individuals can deduct up to 15% from their tax base if:

the total of all donations exceeds 2% of the tax base; or
it is at least CZK 1,000 (in total for the whole year).

In practical terms, this means that if the donor has a confirmation for CZK 1,000 or more, they do not need to check whether it is 2% of the tax base – they only need to check that it does not exceed 15%.

Legal entities may claim gratuitous performance:

from CZK 2,000 per donation (each individual donation must have this value);
up to a maximum of 10% of the tax base reduced in accordance with Section 34 of the Income Tax Act.

According to the donation agreement, the donation may also be provided in several smaller installments, but their total value for the calendar year must be at least CZK 2,000.
